Gap Foundation does not accept unsolicited requests for sponsorship; however, will match employees' personal financial contribution to any eligible nonprofit organization, whether it be through a one-time gift or payroll deduction. We support the causes that are most important to you. Our matching program operates on a calendar year. The program ends each year on December 31st and begins each new year or January 1st. Each employee's annual limit is reset, as well as store Team Grant allocations. 


Gift Match
Here’s how it works if you’re based in North America:
We match your contributions whether you’re a full- or part-time employee. The following limits apply annually to the total combined amount that you accrue through Gift Match and our Money for Time program:
  •  $1,000 for part time employees
  •  $2,500 for full time employees
  •  $5,000 for Directors to Vice Presidents
  •  $10,000 for SVP and above
Note that to be matched, contributions must be $25 or more.
 
Payroll Deduction
Just like with a lump-sum contribution, we’ll match what you set aside through Payroll Deduction in support of all eligible non-profit organizations. The match will be made when your cumulative contributions reach $25 or greater.
 
You’re eligible for the match if you’re a full or part-time employee in North America. The following limits apply annually to the total combined amount that you accrue through Gift Match and our Money for Time program:
  •  $1,000 for part time employees
  •  $2,500 for full time employees
  •  $5,000 for Directors to Vice Presidents
  •  $10,000 for SVP and above
Note that payroll deduction requires a minimum donation of $1 per pay period. 

Field Team Grant
For every 25 hours a store team of three or more employees volunteers with a target aligned nonprofit, the store can allocate a $250 grant to their partner nonprofit.

T-shirt Donations
Gap Inc. contributes white T-shirts to nonprofits that are aligned with our target causes. They’re designed to be used for special events such as walks or other fundraising events that give them out to participants. The T-shirts are plain white with a Gap Inc. logo on the sleeve. We request that organizations have the T-shirts screen printed with their logo and event artwork. Unfortunately, Gap Inc. can’t cover the expense of screen printing. We also regret that our requests for shirts often out-run our supply.

 

To request a T-shirt donation for an organization you support, please submit a one-page letter on that organization's letterhead – or ask them to submit one -- to the address below. The letter should include the following information:
  • A brief description of your organization
  • Your organization's federal tax-exempt number
  • A description of the project or event for which the T-shirts will be used
  • The date the donation is needed
  • Number of T-shirts needed and sizes (adult S-XXL)
  • Shipping address
  • How Gap Inc.'s contribution will be acknowledged at the event
Please note that T-shirts cannot be donated to the following:
  • Political organizations
  • Religious organizations, except those with a social service program that operates separately from the church. The program must have its own tax-exempt 501(c)(3) status, and must have its own mission statement and board of directors.
  • Organizations that discriminate
  • Individuals

Due to the high volume of requests we receive, we're unable to support and respond to all submissions. If we are able to fulfill your request, you will receive a response within six weeks of the date your request was received.


Appreciation Card Program
While our supplies are limited, we offer Appreciation Cards when possible to organizations that are aligned with our target causes: job readiness and/or career exploration for underserved youth and women’s advancement. Appreciation Cards work like gift certificates at Banana Republic, Gap or Old Navy stores -- and are a popular item at raffles and auctions. Because we get such a high volume of requests, we donate only one Appreciation Card to any given organization each year, and unfortunately, we cannot accommodate every request. Please note: We are unable to reply to follow-up telephone calls or other inquiries. If we are able to provide an Appreciation Card for an organization's event, it will arrive in the mail within six weeks from the date the request was received. We provide cards only to nonprofit, public charities with tax-exempt status under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.
